While we may not subscribe to the "It takes a village to raise a child" concept, we have learned that it DOES require a deliberate and systematic approach to properly plan for college, and this requires a team of experts. We have best-in-class individuals and firms on our Advisory Team serving every element of College Planning.
The most important team members, however, are you - the parent(s) - and your child. We need you to have your "buy-in" to the process. Following are a few guidelines we need you to embrace so that we can help you to the max in successfully planning for your child's college.
In order for us to most effectively help you and your family plan for college, we need involvement from both the student and at least one parent. GetCollegeFunding and our Advisory Team are here to guide you every step of the way, but we need your commitment as well.
Communication and parent/student involvement is paramount to our impact to your family's College Planning. If you don't currently have a SKYPE account, we encourage you to get one. And it's free! SKYPE is a tremendous medium for us to communicate with you - both parent AND student! - throughout the College Planning process. We can teleconference, video conference, file share, even screen share! And did I mention - it's FREE!
And when your student leaves for college, what a great way to communicate with them! You'll be able to talk with your student - and see them! - through their laptop computer. It works on both PC and MAC platforms.
All you need is a computer, an internet connection and a webcam.
For LEVEL II - and above - client families who do NOT currently have a webcam installed on their primary home computer, GetCollegeFunding will gladly provide one to you as a gift AND a Thank You for your patronage.
The ONLY thing we ask in return is a genuine commitment (especially by the STUDENT) to use it regularly in communicating with us.
Please get in the habit of checking your email on a regular basis - at least 3 times a week - if you're not doing so already. Email is our primary means of communicating with you AND you'll see that it's the primary means by which COLLEGES will be communicating with you and your student as well. We recommend your student establish a unique (and appropriately named) email address dedicated for college correspondence.
If the primary email address you've provided to GetCollegeFunding changes at any time while you're engaged with our services, it's important that you notify us of your new address.
There will be occasions when we need information from you. With few exceptions our requests for information will be through email. Please respond to such requests promptly. Likewise, you can count on us to get back to you quickly - with few exceptions, within one business day.
We've developed over the years an efficient system utilizing CHECKLISTS that help you complete the steps necessary in our various levels of service. As you move through our Step-by-Step approach, please print out the appropriate CHECKLIST when directed to do so and keep it up to date.
