STEP 4: Additional Requirements
Some PROFILE colleges require additional information beyond the CSS PROFILE Form in their determination of a student's need-based financial aid eligibility. The 2 most common additional requirements are:
- Non-Custodial PROFILE (NCP) Application (110 colleges)
- Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) Data Package (67 colleges)

The Non-Custodial PROFILE Application
The Noncustodial PROFILE (NCP) Application is a financial aid application service of the College Board. Currently, 110 of the 248 PROFILE Colleges require the NPC Application for families filing the CSS PROFILE Form. According to College Board:
"Many colleges use the Noncustodial PROFILE Application in conjunction with the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Application to help them determine eligibility for institutionally funded need-based aid. These colleges believe strongly that it is the responsibility of both biological/adoptive parents to pay for the student's college expenses, regardless of where the student lives. (Other colleges that require information from the noncustodial parent may require different application forms, including the Noncustodial Parent's Statement.)
The noncustodial parent's information is kept secure, and is shared only with the colleges authorized by the student to receive it. Neither the student nor the custodial parent has access to the noncustodial parent's information unless the noncustodial parent chooses to share his or her password."
To meet the student's colleges' and programs' priority filing dates, the noncustodial PROFILE must be submitted by midnight Eastern Time of the earliest priority filing date. Click here for College Board's Step-by-Step Noncustodial PROFILE Process.
NCP Application filing is NOT part of our standard Forms Processing Service. If a non-custodial parent wishes for us to complete the application on their behalf, or to review their completed application, we are happy to do so at our prevailing service rates as posted on our Online Store.
