Financial Aid Awards
We set the month of April aside every year to meet with our Forms Processing client families in order to review their Financial Aid Award letters. Families are often mistaken when they assume the awards are easy to understand! There's NO uniformity among awards from one college to another. Often there's little to no uniformity even within the SAME public college system (e.g., Univ of CA).
We want to ensure that you fully understand the awards your student receives, ESPECIALLY the bottomline out-of-pocket costs ahead of you. MANY awards surprisingly don't even indicate the entire COA - the annual Cost of Attendance - of the school!
The awards (almost) always indicate the Direct Costs
- Tuition & Fees
- Room & Board
Direct Costs are the billable costs by the Bursar's Office of the college.
But what about the Indirect Costs?
- Books
- Travel
- Personal/Living Expenses
Indirect Costs are often several thousand dollars and for some students can reach or even exceed $10K!
If Your LEVEL of Service is One of the Following
- LEVEL II: College Funding PLUS
- LEVEL III: College Selection and Counseling
- LEVEL IV: Comprehensive Counseling
- FAFSA Plus
- FAFSA/PROFILE Plus
- FAFSA Renewal
- FAFSA/PROFILE Renewal
then a Financial Aid Awards Review is included in your service. We encourage you to use this valuable part of your service and to schedule this review with us upon your student receiving all of his/her awards. With few exceptions all awards can be expected by April 1st.

When using our Scheduler:
- Under Item 2. Select a service, choose: f) Financial Aid Awards Analysis
- After clicking the CONFIRM button, indicate if you'll be meeting with us in our Dana Point Office, via teleconference, or SKYPE, then click OK
