STEP 7: Verification
Approximately 1 out of 3 FAFSA forms are randomly selected for a process called Verification. If your FAFSA is selected, first of all - don't worry! It's simply part of the Financial Aid process. GetCollegeFunding will complete your Verification Form for you, but you will need to email or fax the form to us, as well as your most recent SAR. We will turn this around quickly and email the completed form(s) to you at which time you will simply sign and furnish to the college(s) that requested verification.
We recommend you keep ALL correspondence regarding Financial Aid to and from colleges in a file. If your LEVEL of service with GetCollegeFunding included our College Planning NAVIGATOR, print out such correspondence and file behind TAB 9: FinAid Forms/Awards/Appeals.
Checklist Instructions
(only if selected for Verification)
- Enter the date you supplied your Verification Form to GCF
- Enter the date you received your completed Verification Form back from GCF
FAFSA Form Processing is Complete!
This concludes the FAFSA Form Processing section! If your student did NOT apply to a PROFILE College or a college that requires an Institutional/Supplemental Financial Aid Form, you're done with Forms Processing. You may want to browse the remaining sections in the left margin, however, to assess if any further elements of Forms Processing may apply to you, or if you need our further assistance in any way.

You May Still Have Some SIGNIFICANT Forms Processing IF...
Your Student Is Applying to at Least 1 PROFILE College
Is your student applying to any PROFILE colleges? If you're not certain what a PROFILE college is, you're not alone! Many parents learn this only after important deadlines have been missed.
There are about 200 colleges in America that require College Board's CSS PROFILE Form in order to assess a student's eligibility for University Need-Based Grants and Loans. These schools are often referred to as PROFILE schools. For a list of colleges requiring the CSS PROFILE form, click here. If even just one college to which your student is applying is on this list, you should submit the CSS PROFILE form.

Your Student Is Applying to at Least 1 PRIVATE College
Is your student applying to any PRIVATE colleges? If so, it's likely that they require an Institutional, sometimes referred to as a Supplemental, Financial Aid Form. Whether the private college is a PROFILE school or a FAFSA ONLY school, Institutional Forms are almost always required. Private colleges will typically indicate their Institutional Form requirements in the Financial Aid section of their websites. For a comprehensive List of Colleges and links to their websites, click here.
