STEP 1: PIN Acquisition

The first part of FAFSA Forms Processing involves Federal Student Aid PINs.  The PIN website is www.pin.ed.gov.  The PIN (Personal Identification Number) serves as an electronic "signature" for the FAFSA form and can also be used to access Federal Student Aid records online.

The FAFSA form requires two signatures - one from the student and the other from one parent.  When submitting the FAFSA online (via FAFSA on the Web), the easiest way to "sign" the form is with the use of the student's and parent's PINs.  The entire process can then be completed electronically - with no paper or "wet signatures" required.

Acquiring Your PINs

Federal law requires students and parents to acquire their OWN PINs.  It's an easy process, and we've prepared a short instructional video (less than 2 minutes!) for you that will show you every step involved.

After you've watched the PIN video, it's time for you to acquire your PINs.  (This should only take a couple of minutes - honest!)  We recommend that the student and BOTH parents acquire PINs.

Go to the PIN website now and get your PINs.  Be sure to write them down!  When you've acquired your PINs, close the application window and you'll return to this page.

Now It's Time to Choose One of Two Options

  • OPTION 1.
Complete the PIN Authorization Form below, including your PINs.

This will allow us to complete the necessary steps in electronically signing your FAFSA on your behalf, add colleges to your FAFSA if your student is applying to more than 10 schools, make changes as required, and update your FAFSA when you've completed your taxes.  We'll also set up a GetCollegeFunding email address in the student's name so that we'll get copied on any important emails regarding his/her Financial Aid Forms.
In order to elect this option - at the bottom of the form, check the OPTION 1 box.
  • OPTION 2.
Complete the PIN Authorization Form below, excluding your PINs.

By selecting this option, we can only SUBMIT your original FAFSA form.  We will provide to you instructional videos on how to electronically sign your FAFSA, how to add colleges to your FAFSA if your student is applying to more than 10 schools, how to make changes as required, and how to update your FAFSA when you've completed your taxes.  This option precludes us from accessing your FAFSA once you've signed it.
In order to elect this option - at the bottom of the form, check the OPTION 2 box.

When you click the SUBMIT button below, you'll be automatically directed to STEP 2.
