CHAPTER 9: FinAid Forms & Awards/Appeals
This chapter provides a convenient filing area for the following Forms Processing information:
- PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) – Your PIN is used to electronically sign and make changes to your student’s FAFSA, and to retrieve Student Aid Reports (SARs). Note student and parent PINs as well as Password and Challenge Question/Answer.
- DCR (Data Confirmation Report) – If we prepare your student’s FAFSA we will generate a DCR and email it to you. Review the DCR carefully, note any changes, and email it back to us.
- SARs (Student Aid Reports) –The U.S. Dept of Education (ED) will notify you that your SAR is ready for retrieval. Any changes to the FAFSA generates a new SAR.
- College Board Documents (PROFILE form only)
- Institutional Financial Aid Forms (Private colleges)
You can expect financial aid award letters one to two weeks after your student receives Offers of Admission letters from the colleges:
- Fax every award letter to us so that we can help you determine if the awards are fair.
- File all of your financial aid award letters in this section, even the ones you feel certain you will decline. Sometimes awards from one school can be used to competitively appeal for more financial aid from another.
If there are any Special Circumstances that might result in a higher award or a strong award from a competitive school, we’ll help you assess if an appeal is appropriate. If it is, we will guide you through the process. File any appeal documentation in this section.
Important Note
Our involvement with Financial Aid Forms is limited to LEVEL II thru LEVEL IV and "a la carte" Forms Processing clients. Any reference on this sheet to efforts performed by GetCollegeFunding apply to such client families.
