GetCollegeFunding is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public benefit corporation. We work with families who want to send their children to a good college but don't know the best way to pay for it - or how to pay for it at all! We're able to help many students receive grants and scholarships by guiding their family through the process. For some families we offer proven strategies to significantly reduce their out-of-pocket costs. In all cases we emphasize the importance of education and counseling regarding the College Funding process.
What's different about GetCollegeFunding compared to other College Funding companies out there? You may be surprised to learn that we're NOT all the same. In fact we vary dramatically! GetCollegeFunding demonstrates to every family we meet how we're different from the rest of the pack. Read some of the testimonials written about us and check out a few of the actual awards received from families we've assisted for the upcoming 2007-2008 college year.
Families are surprised to learn how much of what we do is provided at no charge. This includes the downloads we have waiting for you on this site. You won’t find this collection of resources available anywhere else for free. And there’s never a charge for any of our public or private seminars, 'Personal Assessment Consultations', or EFC Analyses.
Some families choose to utilize our fee-based services. See our Schedule of Services. Just as many families retain the services of an accountant or CPA for tax preparation - AND tax planning - so do many families select our professional services. While you can count on us to accurately prepare your financial aid forms, our emphasis is effective PLANNING for the cost of college and REDUCING your out-of-pocket costs!
We begin the education process with an emphasis on EFC - Expected Family Contribution. No one emphasizes the importance of understanding EFC more than we do at GetCollegeFunding. This critical parameter is highly misunderstood by parents, yet is the determining factor for most college financial aid awards! It directly represents the family's level of financial aid eligibility.
Most families have NO idea of what their EFC is . . . until just a few short months before their student leaves for college! This paradigm continues to fluorish largely due to most families' first exposure to EFC at "FAFSA Night" often introduced to parents in December or January of the senior year.
The ideal time you should begin to plan for your family's College Funding is when your child is a high school sophomore or - at the latest - a first-semester junior. Most likely this is the first time you've EVER heard this, right? We know! Because the most common question we get at our seminars is, "Why didn't anyone tell us this SOONER?" Waiting until the senior year often results in reductions in college financial aid eligibility. We want to help you start on time! If you ARE the parent of a high school senior, we're not trying to frighten you! Rather, we want to encourage you to call us NOW so that we can help you in every way possible.
With our help many families can reduce their out-of-pocket costs significantly. Whether you're local to southern California or in a location remote to us, we have the resources, expertise, and technology to help you. Before you leave our site, please be sure to see our Personal Invitation to you at the bottom of this page!
If you’re like most parents, you are concerned about the high cost of college and how you will pay for it without sacrificing your ability to retire. College costs continue to rise about 5 percent annually. Regardless of the ages of your children or the size of your family – your concerns are understandable. Sadly, many families unknowingly sacrifice financial aid for which they should have qualified.
Learning the facts about the College Funding process can eliminate many of the fears that so many parents have. At GetCollegeFunding we are committed to educating you with the College Funding process and to counseling you on how to pay for the higher education you desire for your children.

See If You're Surprised at All!
- Many families qualify for far more financial aid than they ever would have imagined – whether it be need-based or merit-based.
- Some families can actually send their children to a private school for less money out-of-pocket than a public school with a much lower “sticker price”.
- Other families can legitimately reduce their out-of-pocket costs by strategically repositioning assets before they complete and submit their financial aid forms.
- Affluent families can often restructure their income in ways to provide themselves with what we call “Tax Scholarships”.
- For many families it’s to your financial benefit – not your disadvantage – to have two students in college at the same time.
- A large amount of home equity will not prevent you from being eligible for financial aid in about 90% of all the colleges across the country.
- In the unfortunate case of a separation or divorce most colleges don’t ask about the income and assets of the non-custodial parent.
- Many schools will meet 90 to 100% of a family's need through financial aid with most of this money being offered in the form of grants (free money), not loans.
- You can appeal an initial financial aid award in the event of "special circumstances" that aren't included in the standard financial aid forms. The first award isn't necessarily the last.
- Families should not wait until the student's senior year of high school to learn their EFC. The sooner you know and understand this calculation, the better! With the free downloadable tools we provide to you on this website, you can calculate it TODAY!
